One Collection, Multiple Personalities: What Our Brick Lane Shoot Taught Us About Personal Style

At Dapper & Suave, we spend a lot of time thinking about how accessories fit into real life. Not just weddings. Not just special occasions. Not just the moments that make it into carefully curated photographs. Real life.

That idea became the starting point for our recent photoshoot in and around Brick Lane, Spitalfields and the streets that surround it.

We wanted to create something different from the traditional accessory photography that often dominates menswear. Less polished perfection. More personality. Less formality. More individuality.

Most importantly, we wanted to show that great style is not about dressing like somebody else. It is about wearing something in a way that feels genuinely your own.

Moving Beyond the White Shirt and Velvet Jacket

For years, occasionwear photography has followed familiar formulas.

The crisp white shirt. The formal jacket. The perfectly posed portrait.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with those looks, but they only tell part of the story.

For our SS26 collection, we wanted to explore something more relaxed and contemporary. Denim, overshirts, layering like those from WEAR London that Rob is wearing, and texture and clothing that felt lived in rather than overly styled.

The goal was not to make accessories feel formal and show how accessories can bring personality to everyday dressing.

Why Brick Lane Felt Like the Perfect Backdrop

Brick Lane has always celebrated individuality.

Walk its streets and you will see people expressing themselves in countless different ways. Tailoring sits alongside streetwear. Vintage influences meet contemporary fashion. Creativity and character are everywhere.

That spirit felt closely aligned with what we wanted the collection to represent.

The streets around Fournier Street, Wilkes Street and Princelet Street gave us exactly what we hoped for: texture, colour, history and a sense of authenticity that could never be recreated in a studio. The location became more than a backdrop.

It became part of the story.

Personal Style Is Personal

One of the most rewarding aspects of the day was seeing how differently the collection could be interpreted.

Our models brought their own personalities, perspectives and energy to every look. Rather than forcing a single vision, we encouraged individual expression and allowed each outfit to evolve naturally. The result was a reminder that accessories are at their most interesting when they reflect the person wearing them.

The same cravat can feel refined on one person and relaxed on another. A pocket square can become a subtle finishing touch or a statement of intent. A tie can feel timeless, contemporary or entirely unexpected depending on how it is styled.

There are no universal rules. Only possibilities.

Style Should Feel Effortless

One phrase kept returning throughout the day. Stylish without trying too hard.

It is a simple idea, but often the most difficult to achieve.

The strongest images from the shoot were rarely the most carefully posed. They were the moments between the poses. Walking down a quiet street. Adjusting a lapel. Holding a coffee. Sharing a conversation.

The accessories became part of the outfit rather than the sole focus of attention.

That felt far more reflective of how people actually dress.

Accessories Beyond Expectations

The shoot also reminded us that accessories do not need to stay within traditional boundaries. We photographed ties and cravats on both male and female models. Pocket squares appeared beyond the jacket pocket. Styling became more fluid, more expressive and more personal.

The accessories did not change. The interpretation did.

That flexibility is something we have always loved about pattern and design. The same piece can mean different things to different people, and that is exactly as it should be.

What We Learned

If there was one lesson from Brick Lane, it was this:

Personal style begins with confidence, not rules.

The most memorable looks were not necessarily the boldest or the most elaborate.

They were the ones that felt authentic to the person wearing them.

That is ultimately what Dapper & Suave is about.

Not dressing for someone else's approval. Not chasing trends.

Simply finding pieces that resonate with you and wearing them with confidence.

Final Thoughts

Our tagline has always been simple:

Do Well. Live Well. Dress Really Well.

The Brick Lane shoot brought that to life more clearly than we could have imagined.

Three people. Different personalities. Different styling choices. Different interpretations.

One collection. And countless ways to make it your own.
